Often, small market teams decline the route. Fair enough. They need to keep their fanbases engaged, and may not be able to afford a prolonged bout of losing as other organizations can.
Tell that to the Oklahoma City Thunder! We shouldn’t underestimate NBA fans. They can be savvy. In all likelihood, a large portion of Utah’s devout fanbase will be able to understand the team’s long-term vision.
With that said, Davis Bertans won’t be part of it. In fact, his contract is fairly burdensome. That still shouldn’t dissuade the Jazz here.
