NBA opening night for the Los Angeles Lakers did not go as planned as they traveled to take on the Golden State Warriors. It was the Warriors’ ring ceremony and banner night, so the Chase Center was electric. The game was out of hand for a majority of the contest, as the Lakers lost 123-109.
They will look to get their first victory of the season in their home opener against their co-tenants, the LA Clippers. The Clippers are the team with legitimate championship aspirations this season as they are healthy heading into the season and possess arguably the deepest, most talented roster in the NBA.
Tonight is the much-anticipated return of Kawhi Leonard, who missed the entire 2021-22 season as he recovered from ACL surgery. Last season the Clippers swept the season series from the Lakers, winning all four games. They were competitive, as three of them were decided by four points or fewer.

For the Clippers, there are a few good player props to keep an eye on. With Russell Westbrook starting at point guard for the Lakers, whoever matches up against him is a good bet for over points, rebounds or assists whether it is Reggie Jackson or John Wall. Kawhi Leonard and Marcus Morris Sr. rebounding props are also solid based on numbers against the Lakers from last season.
For the purple and gold, there is value to be found in rebounding props as well. Westbrook, Patrick Beverley and LeBron James all have favorable matchups for rebounding. But, a lot of that came without Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in the lineup. Westbrook’s rebounding prop against Jackson, should he be named the starter again, offers the most value.
