Some say that money makes the world go around. If that’s true, draft capital keeps the NBA in motion. 

After all, it’s the currency of the day. In 2022, it’s hard to find a significant trade that doesn’t find a number of first-round picks exchanging hands. If you don’t have a significant cache of draft capital, you’d better have one of the best rosters in the NBA. 

That holds especially true ahead of the 2023 draft. After all, this is a class of talent that has the potential to be historic.

Victor Wembanyama is the headliner, but there are plenty of potentially franchise-altering players that will be available.

With that in mind, some teams are expected to “tank” in a bid to maximize their lottery odds. The Chicago Bulls are not expected to be among them – they owe their first-round pick to the Orlando Magic. 

That doesn’t necessarily preclude the Bulls from rebuilding. If they get off to a slow start in 2022-23, they could still turn an eye to the future.
