In many ways, Gordon is a poor man’s Green. 

Moreover, Green is probably the best player of his archetype in the league. If you need a defensive-minded forward who offers secondary playmaking, you can’t do better than him.

At the same time, landing a player who can replicate some of his skills would be prudent for the Warriors. 

Of course, they can’t afford to strictly downgrade either. That’s why the Warriors are getting Brown as well. Realistically, he’d slot right into Gary Payton II’s role from 2021-22, and fill it well.

This is not ideal for the Warriors. With that said, Green has so much intangible value to this organization that trading him is assured to be suboptimal. If their hand is forced, this is a good return package for him.
