Why The Houston Rockets Do The Deal
This deal would shock the world from the Rockets’ perspective. They’re one of the teams that are most expected to participate in the Wembanyama sweepstakes.
If they made this deal, it would speak to the confidence they have in their roster. Granted, preseason only counts for so much – teams play differently when the games don’t count toward the standing. With that said, the results of this preseason have been encouraging for the Rockets.
We already spoke about Tari Eason. He’s looked the part of a future star. He’s a tenacious defender and rebounder with a nose for the ball, a solid ball-handler, and a strong inside finisher.
Meanwhile, Jalen Green appears to have taken a step forward as well. For that matter, so does Kevin Porter Jr. Recent third overall pick Jabari Smith Jr. looked at least as good as advertised in his first and only preseason game as well. If the Rockets feel that they have their core, they could justify decisions that would lend themselves to winning.

Adding Turner would be one of those decisions. In a few years, it could have the Rockets back in the race to the top.
