The expectations for the New Orleans Pelicans are going up as we head toward the 2022-23 regular season. New Orleans made a great run to earn a spot in this past postseason, defeating the San Antonio Spurs and LA Clippers in the NBA Play-In Tournament to earn the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

The Pelicans gave everything they could to the Phoenix Suns, losing in six games. But, there are a lot of people that have discussed how different things would have been having Zion Williamson been in the lineup.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft sat out the entire campaign as he recovered from a broken foot suffered in the offseason. He got close to returning to the court a few times, but ultimately, it was decided to hold him out.

Looking like he is in great shape and healthy heading into training camp, the Pelicans are a team that many people are going to keep an eye on come the regular season. They have a strong roster, evident from the run they went on at the end of the season and it will only get better with Williamson as part of it.

According to StatMuse, Williamson is making 60.4 percent of shots when he plays. That is by far the best shooting percentage for anyone that averages 15 field goal attempts per game. Second on that list is Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves at 52.7 percent.

They are followed by Los Angeles Lakers duo Anthony Davis and LeBron James at 51.5 and 50.5. Rounding out the top five is Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets at 49.6 percent.

This is likely a list that Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks will be joining this season, as he currently averages 14.8 shots per game in his career. His 53.5 percent from the field would place him second on this list, still a considerable margin behind Williamson.
