Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
On the other hand, the Nets won’t have any concerns about a lack of ball-handling. In fact, they may have a surplus.
After all, Ben Simmons provides very little off-ball value. He is notoriously averse to shooting. Sure, he could function as a roll man, but where does that leave Nic Claxton?
Without a reliable jumper, Simmons is best with the ball in his hands. Still, taking it out of Kyrie Irving’s seems counterproductive. He’s an elite player both on and off the ball, but the Nets will want him commanding offensive possessions.
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant is one of the best off-ball players in NBA history, but even he’ll need the rock from time to time.

Acquiring Reggie Bullock solves precisely none of those issues. That’s not the point of this deal for Brooklyn. Their logic is simple – if they won’t have space to put the ball in Curry’s hands anyway, they might as well flip him for a better defender who also spaces the floor well.
In other words, they’ll have a more appropriate role for Bullock. Just don’t make the mistake of underestimating his importance.
