Why The Cleveland Cavaliers Do The Deal
This trade isn’t a no-brainer for the Cavaliers.
Firstly, parting with Love will be difficult. He’s the last vestige from the Cavaliers’ last (and only) championship run. In many respects, he’s this team’s leader.
Moreover, the Cavaliers are flipping Love’s expiring deal for Fournier’s contract here, which runs for three more seasons. Combined that with Reddish’s disappointing career to date, are we sure this is the right move for the Cavaliers?
Frankly, no. This entire deal is a gamble on Reddish for the Cavaliers. If he breaks out for them, he’ll be exactly what they need at 3-and-D wing with secondary shot creation chops. They’d be swinging big, but if they connected, it could pay huge dividends.
