We happen to think it makes perfect sense. After all, the Dallas Mavericks could badly use an upgraded secondary ball-handler behind Luka Doncic. Spencer Dinwiddie is talented, but a team with title aspirations could do better.
By contrast, Russell is a more dynamic playmaker. He’ll be able to keep this offense humming when Doncic needs a breather.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves may not have room left in their offensive pecking order for Russell. After all, this attack is likely to run through the tandem of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.
With that in mind, adding a floor-spacer like Hardaway Jr. and a 3-and-D wing like Finney-Smith makes perfect sense.
