It would not be a Media Day to open training camp without some trade rumors circulating around the NBA. The latest comes from the Phoenix Suns, who are looking to trade Jae Crowder.

Crowder is someone that the team has been looking to move this offseason as they planned to shrink his role with the team looking to give Cam Johnson a larger role.

Not wanting to play a diminished role, Crowder asked the team for a trade. The team has obliged, and both sides agreed that it was best for him not to attend training camp.

The veteran forward will remain away from the organization until a trade partner is found. One team that was linked to the Suns as a trade partner was the Utah Jazz, who were offering Bojan Bogdanovic. But, with Bogdanovic having been traded to the Detroit Pistons, the Jazz are no longer a potential trade partner.

But, that does not mean there isn’t a market for Crowder. According to Shams Charania, there are four teams to keep an eye on as a landing spot for him; the Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, and Miami Heat. Charania shared the update on The Rally from Bally Sports.

Coincidentally, Crowder has already spent time with each of those franchises during his career. He was selected 34th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers but was part of a draft day trade and ended up with the Mavericks.

He was with the team until December of 2014 when he was traded to the Boston Celtics. Crowder ended up in Memphis as part of the Mike Conley Jr. trade in July of 2019. He spent half of a season there before he was traded to the Miami Heat in a three-team deal that was focused on Andre Iguodala heading to South Beach along with him.

All four teams could certainly use the playoff-tested Crowder. Out of the four, Miami would certainly have the largest role for him as they have a huge void at the power forward spot with P.J. Tucker departing in free agency. He could bring some similarities to the court for the Grizzlies that Kyle Anderson did, who left in free agency, signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Dallas could use another versatile forward to add to their wing rotation which Crowder would provide. In Boston, he would likely soak up some of the minutes they planned to give to Danilo Gallinari, who tore his ACL while playing for Italy in EuroBasket.
