Miami Heat
Phoenix Suns Receive: G Duncan Robinson, 2023 First-Round Pick (MIA)
Miami Heat Receive: F Jae Crowder, G Landry Shamet
In this NBA trade scenario, the Miami Heat would send Duncan Robinson with a 2023 first-round pick attached to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jae Crowder and Landry Shamet.
Robinson went from being an undrafted success story to becoming a punching bag after signing a five-year, $90 million contract and not living up to expectations. There is no denying his abilities as a sharpshooter. He presents intriguing qualities particularly in DHOs and in off-ball actions, but again, his lack of defensive impact has been limiting.
It’s important to consider, Shamet doesn’t have nearly as large of a contract as Robinson, but he’s signed for the next four years and doesn’t come close to meeting the value of the $42.5 million contract he signed. Moving on from his deal would help.
The Suns would move on from both Shamet’s long-term salary and the disgruntled Crowder, who will need a new contract in the offseason following the 2022-23 season. Robinson’s contract is a terrible one, but at least he’s a sharpshooter that can bring a boost to the bench.

Crowder already has a strong familiarity with the Miami Heat organization and could fill the void left behind by PJ Tucker’s departure to the Philadelphia 76ers in the offseason.
