Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
In one word: rebuilding.
The Bulls have made a lot of efforts to shift into win-now mode in recent years. It’s commendable. At the same time, it’s not hard to see a ceiling with this core.
After all, the Bulls won 46 games last year. What moves have they made this offseason to inspire hope for improvement? If the Bulls are surprisingly competitive by January, this deal won’t interest them either.
On the other hand, if they’re in the middle of the pack again, they may have to start asking themselves some hard questions.

On the other hand, it may not be such a difficult decision to make. Between Lonzo Ball, Patrick Williams, and Coby White, the Bulls have some quality players under 25. Throw Herro and some draft capital into that mix, and they could have the makings of a solid rebuild in place.
They won’t be able to tell the future, but at least it’ll look bright.
