Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal 

The Washington Wizards generally struggle to attract top-end talent. That’s the main reason they’d roll the dice on Irving. 

After all, this team has been floundering since John Wall left. They’ve managed to retain Bradley Beal, but they’ve failed to put a contending team around him. With this trade, they’d potentially be forming the most talented group they’ve had around Beal in his career. 

After all, Kristaps Porzingis is already on board. Between him, Irving and Beal, the Wizards would have three players with All-Star potential in 2022-23. It’s hard to remember the last time we could say that about this squad. 

Irving is a risk. That much is obvious. On the other hand, so is the oft-injured Porzingis. The Wizards as a franchise that need to take risks in order to put together a competitive squad. If this pays off, they could be a formidable opponent next season.
