Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
At first glance, it looks like the Bulls are getting a tremendous return here. You may think so, depending on whether you view Isaac and Fultz as assets or burdens.
You could make the case either way. Isaac has been injured for most of his young NBA career, but if he can get his body right, he should be a perennial All-Defence candidate. With modern sports technology, we shouldn’t rule out a comeback on his part.
Meanwhile, Fultz has been a victim of plenty of injuries of his own, but he’s also flashed the potential that made him a number one overall pick not long ago. All told, both of these guys are young enough to live up to the expectations they came into the league with.
Even if they don’t, this is a good trade for the Bulls if they’re desperate. By moving LaVine, they’re likely to bottom out – and by getting their own pick back from the Magic, they give themselves the incentive to do so.

Following this deal, the Bulls could shop DeRozan or just shut him down for the year. Suddenly, they’d have an intriguing young core and the potential to add a blue-chip prospect to it next summer.
Should the Magic really put them in that position?
