Orlando Magic Receive: G Zach LaVine
Frankly, neither of these teams should be giving any seminars on how to rebuild any time soon, anyway.
In fact, it feels like the Magic have been rebuilding for an eternity. They haven’t. It’s simply that their last era of competitive basketball went so poorly that it felt like a rebuild half of the time.
Two years ago, they put an end to that era by trading Nikola Vucevic – to none other than the Chicago Bulls.
Speaking of the Bulls, they haven’t been a serious contender since Derrick Rose was an MVP candidate. We’ve seen plenty of strange iterations of this club in recent years (who remembers the Rajon Rondo/Dwayne Wade/Jimmy Butler season? Anyone?), but none were particularly successful.

On the other hand, the Magic are suddenly stacked with young talent. Having selected Paolo Banchero with the first pick in the draft, they should be set for the future – especially with Franz Wagner and others in the fold.
By contrast, the Bulls had a fairly underwhelming 2021-22 season. Should they be looking to trigger their own rebuild already?
