Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
Any hypothetical Nets deal has to be viewed through the prism of deals the organization made before it.
As it stands, the Nets have almost zero draft capital. That’s because they traded the bulk of it to land James Harden at the beginning of the 2020-21 season. Now, their future is owed to the Houston Rockets.
With that in mind, the Nets have no incentive to tank. Therefore, bringing a quality player back is imperative. Ingram should do the trick. Between him, Ben Simmons, and either Kyrie Irving or whatever the Nets manage to get for him, the Nets should stay competitive.
With that said, the extra draft capital here doesn’t hurt either. In fact, the Lakers’ picks could be especially valuable. Of course, this deal isn’t happening tomorrow – we’ll have an idea of where the volatile Lakers stand by the time these teams would consider it.
