Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
Myles Turner’s career to date has been an interesting one. He’s not a star player, yet, his name has been in as many trade rumours as anyone’s over the last few years.
Portability is Turner’s calling card. He’s a rare 3-and-D big man. A centre who can protect the rim and space the floor is an exceedingly valuable commodity in this league. Moreover, it’s hard to imagine a team who could take advantage of that skillset more aptly than the Warriors.
We’ll start on the defensive end. Turner would be the best rim protector the Warriors have paired with Draymond Green since at least Andrew Bogut, if not ever. With Turner protecting the interior, Green would be able to freelance at will. That should terrify opposing teams.
Now, imagine if Bogut had been a 34.9% career three-point shooter. The Warriors may have an extra Larry O’Brien Trophy on their shelves if he had been. All told, this is exactly the type of win-now move the Warriors should be making while their contention window is still open.
