Washington Wizards Receive: G Ben Simmons
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Will Barton, F Kyle Kuzma, F Rui Hachimura
The Brooklyn Nets don’t yet know what they have in Ben Simmons as they have yet to see him on the court in their uniform. If they are no longer willing to wait and see, they can try and flip him for more depth to fill out the roster, which is what they do in this scenario.
Simmons is on his way to the Washington Wizards to take over their starting point guard spot. In exchange for him, the Nets are getting a trio of players that will instantly upgrade the depth of their rotation.
Will Barton is a solid combo guard that can fill a versatile role for the Nets. Kyle Kuzma has steadily improved throughout his career and has experience playing off of stars from his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. Rui Hachimura has some upside still at 24 years old and could be a long-term piece for Brooklyn.
To complete this deal, the Wizards will have to denounce one of the cap holds that they have on the roster or adjust the return package slightly. Since they are hard-capped, they need to cut $327K from the roster for this deal to work.
