Why The Sacramento Kings Do The Deal
We basically just told you why the Kings do the deal. Having said that, we’re happy to elaborate.
Jae Crowder is a better defender than Harrison Barnes. Let’s start there. That happens to be particularly significant for the Kings. Sabonis is an outstanding scoring and playmaking big, but defense is not his calling card. The more support the Kings can get him, the better.
On the other hand, that’s not the only concern for the Kings this year. There is plenty of talent between Sabonis and Fox, but there isn’t a great deal of floor spacing between them. If they could stagger their two stars, that might be ideal.
Adding Saric allows them to do so. He’s a floor-spacing big who’ll open up driving and passing lanes for Fox. Moreover, he’s got enough playmaking chops to compensate for Sabonis while it’s his turn to sit.
