Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
We thought about swapping Lillard for Adebayo here – and then we thought better of it.
The value simply isn’t equal. The Heat can’t afford to lose their defensive anchor, and Adebayo is simply too young to sacrifice for Lillard. Especially considering that, with the Heat’s defense so significantly downgraded, the deal may take them out of contention anyway.
Therefore, we figured Herro and draft capital was a more suitable return. If the Blazers are open to it, the league had better watch out. Miami will be as formidable a foe as any team in it.
Lillard’s elite shooting ability is especially useful here. His off-ball gravity will open up the floor for Adebayo and Jimmy Butler. At the same time, he’s likely the most effective on-ball playmaker of the bunch too. In short, the Heat would be assembling a bonafide superteam.
