The Brooklyn Nets have to be happy that Kevin Durant has committed to continuing their partnership. But, they also cannot be naive enough to not know that a trade request could come again down the road.
Keeping their options open is best for business and if Durant does want out again in the near future, the Golden State Warriors present a great trade partner. The Nets would accomplish their goal of remaining competitive in the short term while laying the foundation for what could be a very fruitful future.
Andrew Wiggins has begun realizing the potential he possessed when he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. After earning his first All-Star nomination, he is now entering his prime and is the prototype of what teams want to build their rosters around.
The future of the franchise would be in good hands with the younger player being acquired as well. Jordan Poole is knocking on the door of becoming an All-Star taking a huge leap in his third season. Moses Moody dominated the Las Vegas Summer League this year and is ready for a larger role.

The wild card in this deal is James Wiseman. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft hasn’t played since April 10th, 2021 because of a meniscus tear but has immense potential.
Because of the upside the young players possess, the Nets are only receiving two first-round picks in this deal but they should be okay with that.

Poole, Wiseman and Moody are 23, 21 and 20 years old, presenting plenty of value along with the draft picks. In 2026 and 2028 those picks could be extremely valuable as the Warriors Core 4 would all be at least 36 years old.
