Building an NBA team is a lot like building a puzzle. Until you find the last piece, it’s incomplete.
It’s not hard to look around the league and identify teams that might be a player away from improvement. Some teams are loaded with wings but could use a quality big man. Alternatively, other teams are a solid point guard away from completing their rotation.
Whether the Toronto Raptors are a piece away is a matter of debate. In 2021-22, they regularly ran Pascal Siakam at the 5. It was an interesting, experimental brand of basketball.
Still, one wonders how competitive they could be with a more traditional rim protector.
