Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal
Aaron Gordon is not a perfect facsimile of Miles Bridges. We need you to know that we know that.
In particular, he’s not as dynamic an offensive player. Bridges’ development as a ball-handler and a shot creator makes him a better scorer in half-court settings. At the same time, Gordon is capable of filling in for him in many ways.
In transition, he’s similarly athletic. Franchise player LaMelo Ball will still have a high-flying power forward to connect on alley-oops with on a nightly basis. Furthermore, Gordon is actually an upgrade over Bridges defensively.
Whether that will produce more wins for the Hornets next year is debatable. Although, it’s worth noting that the Hornets struggled on defense last year, so that upgrade should be significant.
