LeVert just happens to have him beat in that regard. He’s a more dynamic offensive player who can carry his team for stretches. By contrast, Fournier is closer to a complimentary player.
A look at this Knicks roster suggests that they’re more in need of shot creation. The primary offensive options behind Julius Randle and RJ Barrett are fairly uninspiring, and frankly, they’re not the most intimidating duo in the NBA either.

Perhaps most importantly, LeVert is on an expiring contract. If he has a breakout with the Knicks, they can opt to extend him. On the other hand, if he doesn’t, they’ve effectively cleared Fournier’s contract in this transaction. Should the Cavaliers really take it on?
