Harrison Barnes
The Phoenix Suns have a formula that works well under head coach Monty Williams. They have done an excellent job when it comes to making the most out of having versatile forwards that can fill a number of roles.
Almost all of their best lineups come without traditional power forwards on the court. The Suns prefer spacing around Deandre Ayton at the center position with Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder and Cam Johnson occupying the forward spots.
A player who could fit that mold is Harrison Barnes of the Sacramento Kings. He can do essentially everything that Crowder does but at a little bit higher of a level. He provides the same kind of defensive versatility and brings some championship experience to the table as well.
Barnes knows how to play off of All-Star players and can fit into multiple roles. The biggest upgrade that he brings over Crowder is his shot creation. He is more explosive and offers more than just spot-up shooting, where he is also more efficient than Crowder.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Phoenix Suns & Harrison Barnes Updates
Phoenix wouldn’t lose anything long-term when it comes to salary as Harrison Barnes is on an expiring deal just as Crowder is. But, the improvement this season, even if it is an incremental one, could be the difference for a Suns team that is among the best teams in the NBA.
This is a deal that should improve the Suns’ chances of winning a championship. If they believe that to be true as well, it is a deal that they should make with no hesitations.
