How This Trade Impacts Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz are entering a rebuild and are open for business when it comes to the veterans on their roster. After the Donovan Mitchell trade sending him to the Cleveland Cavaliers, they shouldn’t pass up acquiring some value with some of their other players can present.
While the Jazz aren’t getting major assets in this deal with the LA Clippers, they are still getting some pieces of value. Teams can never have enough 3-point shooting and the Jazz would be acquiring an elite shooter in Luke Kennard.
At 26 years old, Kennard might be just outside of Utah’s timeline. However, given his shooting prowess, he is still a plus asset. They can always flip him for more pieces in another trade down the line, similar to what can be done with Reggie Jackson.
Jackson is even further away from the team’s timeline, but he is on an expiring contract. Clearing their payroll is one of the goals that the Jazz had this offseason and bringing on the expiring contract of Jackson would certainly help. Acquiring a draft pick for him at the deadline for a point guard needy team isn’t outside the realm of possibilities.
