Dallas Mavericks
One team that proved that they desperately needed more size last season was the Dallas Mavericks. While they were able to rid themselves of Kristaps Porzingis and his bad habits, they didn’t have a contingency plan in place to fill the giant hole he left in their depth chart.
Davis Bertans proved too much of a defensive liability to be trusted with consistent minutes, Dwight Powell continued to be a shell of himself following multiple injuries, and Maxi Kleber had to take on a much larger bulk of the responsibilities than he was capable of handling.
Dallas did trade for Christian Wood this summer who should provide a significant upgrade along their frontline, but the Mavs could certainly use at least one more big that they can trust to produce in the playoffs. JaVale McGee is a great lob threat, but teams switch often against the Mavericks in the playoffs.
Montrezl Harrell’s interior scoring, energy on the boards, and pick-and-roll prowess would fit in seamlessly in North Texas and next to basketball savant Luka Doncic during the regular season. What separates him come playoff time is his post-up scoring ability and general off-the-dribble talent.

While he’s not exactly known for his defense, just being a big body who is willing and able to contest shots will provide the Dallas Mavericks with a significant boost to their interior defense.
