Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal 

This deal may be the hardest to justify for the Washington Wizards. We just spent considerable time talking about how likely Chris Paul is to decline, and followed that up by saying the Minnesota Timberwolves don’t need a point guard. 

Forgive our hypocrisy, but – the Washington Wizards need a point guard. 

Or, at the very least, they need a player who’s capable of generating offense besides Bradley Beal. Paul ought to at least be that next year, even if he doesn’t do it as well as he used to. 

Furthermore, the Wizards don’t appear interested in rebuilding. If they were, they’d have traded Bradley Beal some time ago. Instead, they just re-signed him to a massive extension. If the Wizards are intent on remaining as competitive as possible in the present, this trade ought to suit them.
