Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Kyle Kuzma, G/F Will Barton
Phoenix Suns Receive: G D’Angelo Russell, 2024 1st Round Pick (WAS)
Washington Wizards Receive: G Chris Paul
Realistically, there was always discord between Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns.
When CP3 joined this squad, they were fresh off of a season that saw them participate in the play-in tournament. With that said, they failed to advance to the playoffs. In other words, this team was far from title contention.
Paul changed that instantly. In fact, the Suns advanced to the NBA Finals during Paul’s first year with the team. It was a remarkable turnaround. Last year, they didn’t get past the Conference Semis, but they did finish the regular season with an NBA-best 64 wins.
Still, there’s always been something tenuous about the fit between the player and the organization. Realistically, it’s the age gap between Paul and his teammates.
