The Los Angeles Lakers have finally made their long-awaited move, and, considering the drama that’s been surrounding the team since NBA superstar LeBron James arrived in La La Land, it was a bit of a letdown.
Since James came to LA and held the front office hostage until they traded away a trove of future assets to bring in Anthony Davis to be his running mate, the Lakers have been severely short on tradeable pieces and have compensated by trying to drum up extra interesting in their mediocre players.
A few different players of theirs have gone through a ruthless cycle — the same one that many of LeBron’s role players are wrung through.
First, the player is overly analyzed and criticized, as any shortcomings are put under the microscope and magnified exponentially. Then, as LeBron and his fans realize that said player could be traded for a better support piece, the player is then exalted by those same fans to try to boost his supposed trade value.
