Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
Tobias Harris is slated to become one of the most expensive 3-and-D wings in the entire league, and he’s not even an elite defender.
With James Harden on board for a full season alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey’s continued ascension, Tobi will be the most natural option to take a backseat on offense in Philly.
Rather than employ a $37 million shooter, the Sixers can split that up into two much more manageable contacts who might just be better fits within their offense next season.
Tim Hardaway Jr. will come in and fill the hole that Seth Curry left in the roster seamlessly. Davis Bertans will provide additional floor-spacing as he has ridiculously deep range while also maintaining the Sixers’ size advantage over the majority of the league.

Since Tobias Harris is by far the best player in the deal and Philly is taking on two bad contracts, the Sixers tack on a future first-round pick from the Mavericks as a sweetener.
This can be used down the road to flip one of the bad contracts they just took on if needed or to acquire additional talent for their title run.
