The Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers have had two of the most interesting offseasons in the NBA, albeit on separate ends of the spectrum. The Sixers and Team President Daryl Morey have aced the summer by every metric.

First, they re-signed James Harden and to a major bargain of a deal at that. Morey convinced the Beard to ink a two-year/$68 million contract, taking around a $15 million pay cut per season compared to the maximum contract he was eligible for and definitely could have commanded in free agency.

With Harden signing a team-friendly deal, Morey was able to finagle the money necessary to land two significant additions on the market in P.J. Tucker and Danuel House.

In one summer, he was able to bring in two of the Beard’s most trusted 3-and-D wings from his Houston Rockets tenure. This came after a draft night trade in which he brought in defensive ace and athletic playmaker, De’Anthony Melton.

After acquiring Harden last season to join Joel Embiid, Morey had already formed one of the most dangerous teams in the entire league by pairing two top-ten talents together.

This past summer, he took it a step further by surrounding his new superstar duo with one of the deepest rosters in the entire NBA.
