Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
Tobias Harris and Bojan Bogdanovic are roughly equal players. They’re also fairly similar. Both are elite floor-spacing wings who double as passable defenders and shot creators.
With that in mind, the opportunity to flip the former for the latter while adding Mike Conley should be too good for the Sixers to pass on.
After all, the Sixers are firmly in win-now mode ahead of 2022-23. They have an elite trio of stars in Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey. On the other hand, they could use a little more depth.
This deal gives them that. With a starting backcourt of Harden and Maxey, Mike Conley is likely to play sixth man – an overqualified role. On the other hand, the Sixers could prefer the lower-usage Conley in the starting lineup, allowing Maxey to run roughshod on second units on a nightly basis.
