Orlando Magic
Los Angeles Lakers Recieve: G Markelle Fultz, G Terrence Ross, F Jonathan Isaac
Orlando Magic Receive: G Russell Westbrook, 2027 1st Round Pick (LAL), 2028 1st Round Pick Swap (LAL)
The Orlando Magic are in the early stages of another rebuild, but they have put together a pretty strong stable of good, young players. If they can continue developing, the Magic could have a very good core for the future in place.
Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner were selected in the first round in 2021. This year, Paolo Banchero was selected with the No. 1 overall pick and Caleb Houstan was selected in the second round. Cole Anthony, Chuma Okeke and R.J. Hampton are all from the 2020 draft class. Wendell Carter Jr. and Mo Bamba signed rookie extensions.
Those players should be the focus of the coaching staff and get as many minutes as they can handle with a few veterans sprinkled in. Gary Harris re-signed this offseason as well.
With that in mind, the Lakers should be calling the Orlando Magic to see if they would part with some potentially expendable players. With Suggs and Anthony in the rotation, Markelle Fultz likely isn’t part of their long-term future. Terrence Ross is 31 and no longer fits the timeline that Orlando is on.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Los Angeles Lakers & Orlando Magic Updates
Jonathan Isaac is the wild card. He has missed the last two seasons recovering from ACL surgery, which has changed his contract to non-guaranteed years. He has immense upside that Orlando likes, but with other younger players vying for minutes at his position, could they opt to trade him instead?
Fultz, Ross and Isaac would be great additions to the Lakers rotation, filling gaps in the backcourt, wing and frontcourt.
