How This Deal Impacts Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are still in the early stages of their rebuild. They have some very good young talent and they will provide them with the opportunity to develop and round out their games.
While having some veterans such as Eric Gordon around would help in that process, the Rockets should cash in on his value while they still can. In this deal, they upgrade the rotation while adding another valuable asset for the future.
Gabe Vincent is a steady performer at the point guard position who came into his own during the 2021-22 season. He could start alongside the young guys and help take pressure off of them with his playmaking ability or lead the second unit off the bench.
While Duncan Robinson’s contract isn’t ideal, his skill set is one that a young roster could benefit from. He is a deadly 3-point shooter and teams have to pay attention to him while he is on the court. Spacing is key and Robinson provides that in spades.

Houston isn’t parting ways with any long-term pieces in this deal, either. Gordon is 33 years old, which doesn’t fit their timeline at all. Kenyon Martin Jr. is young at 21, but there are a ton of forwards on the depth chart that he could struggle to get minutes.
Turning them into two rotation pieces that better fit is a win for Houston. Landing the 2027 first-round pick is of excellent value as well. No one knows what the Heat will look like in 5 years, but a first-round pick will always be valuable no matter where it lands.
