Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal

To be sure, the Jazz would likely prefer a first-round pick for Bojan Bogdanovic. That doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily get one.

Bogdanovic is a good, reliable rotation player. He’s also 33 and on an expiring contract. Contending teams will hesitate to part with a future asset for a potential rental.

With that in mind, LeVert is a more sensible player for the Jazz to roster. He’s also on an expiring contract, but as a rebuilding team, that doesn’t bother the Jazz. Furthermore, at 28, he’s still got a tiny bit of wiggle room for a breakout season.

If he authors one, the Jazz will have options. In all likelihood, flipping him at the deadline would be the most prudent one, assuming they’ve traded Donovan Mitchell and are rebuilding.
