The NBA trade rumor mill is still going strong even late in the offseason. Kevin Durant is one of the biggest names on the market, but another is Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner. Could a team like the Miami Heat consider making a run at acquiring Turner from the Pacers?

Turner is one of the best defensive big men in the entire NBA. He has continually been among the league leaders in blocks and has also shown the ability to stretch the floor on the offensive side of the ball.

Bleacher Report has suggested that Turner could be an ideal late offseason trade target for the Heat.

The Heat would wind up playing jumbo ball with Turner, Adebayo and Jimmy Butler across the frontcourt, but that could be more than enough defensive protection to move Herro into the starting lineup. If Turner hit enough threes to keep defenses honest and attack lanes open, he might help this club strike the two-way balance it needs to complete a title run.

Last season with the Pacers in 42 games, Turner averaged 12.9 points per game to go along with 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocks. He shot 50.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 33.3 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers show why a team like the Heat could have interest in Turner.

Miami is currently loaded and will once again be considered a favorite in the Eastern Conference. Adding Turner alongside Bam Adebayo in the front-court would be an interesting fit, but it is one that could work as the two bigs would have a very different style of play on both sides of the court.

Pat Riley and company would likely prefer to figure out a way to acquire either Donovan Mitchell or Kevin Durant. However, if they are unable to get something done for those two guys, Turner could be a great fallback option.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about Myles Turner in the coming weeks. The Pacers would still look to make a deal, but the right one hasn’t come along. Perhaps a team like the Heat could revisit this option in the near future and swing a trade with Indiana.
