Charlotte Hornets Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
Utah Jazz Receive: F Kelly Oubre Jr., C Mason Plumlee, G James Bouknight, C Kai Jones, 2023 First-Round Pick (via DEN), 2025 First-Round Pick, 2027 First-Round Pick, 2028 Pick Swap, 2029 First-Round Pick
This hypothetical trade between the Charlotte Hornets and Utah Jazz was put together with the other completed Utah deals in mind. We know what they sought out in those trades and pieced together a similar package from the Hornets.
Utah wants as much draft capital as possible. Unless they get a third team involved, such as the Los Angeles Lakers, this is the most that the Hornets can offer.
Since their 2023 first-round pick is protected, they may not be able to convey their 2025 first-rounder depending on when the trade is consummated. Another pick swap can be included in its place instead.
The Jazz also sought salary relief in the deals. They receive it in this deal as Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mason Plumlee are both on expiring deals. James Bouknight and Kai Jones were first-round picks in 2021 so they are on affordable contracts for three more seasons.
