Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
The Chicago Bulls do this deal because they need rim protection. It’s not exactly complicated on their end.
Functionally, Porzingis can do anything they need Vucevic to do. More critically, he can do what they Vucevic to do, but can’t.
Sure, Vucevic is a more dynamic offensive player. He’s got a wider array of post moves, and he’s a sharper passer. Simply put, none of that matters to the Bulls as constructed. Their offense will be centered around Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.
If their center is going to almost solely space the floor, they might as well play defense. Porzingis is a much better fit from that point of view. He’ll make the Bulls better in 2022-23.
