Granted, the Knicks are in a solid situation at the moment. They’ve stockpiled an impressive collection of draft capital, young players and tradeable contracts. In other word, they’ve been waiting for this exact moment. It’s time to capitalize.
Adding Mitchell to this core won’t make the Knicks title favorites in 2022-23. In fact, they may not even be serious contenders. With that said, a bounce back year from Julius Randle should make them competitive.
