Just when it seemed like the NBA offseason had finally reached its resting point with nearly every team content with their current roster and ready to approach training camp, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets drop another atomic bomb on the league’s landscape.
It was recently reported that after meeting with Team Owner Joe Tsai, KD reiterated his desire to be traded with the governor, stating that it was either him or the Nets’ coach and general manager combo of Steve Nash and Sean Marks.
Shortly after that rumor dropped, Tsai took it a step further by publicly showing his support for Nash and Marks on Twitter. For the Nets, that means they either have to salvage this sinking ship built around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving or ultimately trade one or both of their controversial stars and rebuild from scratch.
Along with the emphasis on his prior trade request, Durant has also made his preferred landing spots known again, with the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat headlining the list of potential destinations.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Updates On Bam Adebayo & Miami Heat
If the Heat were to acquire Durant, franchise cornerstone center Bam Adebayo would almost certainly have to be part of the trade package coming out of Miami. Due to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, though, Bam Adebayo is unable to be on the same team as Ben Simmons or any other player who has been signed to a rookie max extension.
Therefore, it may make more sense for the Heat to deal Adebayo to a third team and reroute the assets they’d be getting in return to the Brooklyn Nets to land Durant.
Here are three teams who can take advantage of this unique situation and possibly acquire a transformative defensive talent in Bam Adebayo.
