Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal
The Los Angeles Lakers would check off a major box by making this trade: add more 3-point shooting.
Buddy Hield isn’t just your average 3-point shooter. He has impressive motion shooting ability, underrated playmaking, and can attack off the catch, in addition to being a knockdown shooter when spacing the floor.
Hield’s strengths would be amplified by playing next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Keep in mind, the Lakers could run “Stack” pick-and-roll actions with Hield as a back-screener. The defense would need to account for Davis on the roll, James on the drive, and Hield flaring out.
The Lakers would have the type of shooting capabilities they have lacked for quite some time by acquiring Hield. Adding extra dimensions to their half-court offense within the context of building on high ball screens with James and Hield is ideal and would occur here.

It would be favorable to land Myles Turner in a trade with the Indiana Pacers, but not having to part with so many future draft picks has a case, too.
