Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
Although he’s undoubtedly one of the greatest offensive talents in league history, perhaps no one’s trade value has tanked harder over the last year than Kyrie Irving’s.
After a ridiculous saga that saw him sit out half of last season’s games due to his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccination, Irving followed up his annoyingly dramatic regular season with postseason disappointment and even more drama in the offseason.
Now, there are only a handful of teams who would even want Irving on their team, despite his obvious talents.
The Dallas Mavericks may not even be on the list, as it’s impossible to predict whether Irving would be a happy camper in whatever his next stop is set to be especially considering that he probably won’t have his best bud, Kevin Durant, with him.

In this deal, the Mavs pick up one young player who has shown some intriguing 3-and-D and playmaking flashes in Josh Green and a lottery-protected first-round pick. That’s honestly more than they can ask for in return for Irving, even if it means picking up the rest of Davis Bertans’s albatross contract.
