How This Deal Impacts Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets are looking for a historic trade package in exchange for Kevin Durant, but given the current landscape of the league, it may be hard for them to land exactly what they want. If they ever lower their asking price, the Chicago Bulls could present them with an interesting offer.
There are people around the league that are very high on Patrick Williams. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has immense potential as a two-way player.
Standing 6’7” with a 7-foot wingspan, Williams has the tools to become a true lockdown defender. If he continues knocking down 3-pointers at a good clip once his volume eventually increases, he will become an extremely valuable player.
If the Nets are a fan of his, he could be enough to make up for the lack of draft capital that the Bulls have to offer. A first-round pick via the Portland Trail Blazers in 2023 and first-rounders in 2027 and 2029 via the Bulls is a solid haul in addition to Williams. The Nets can ask for a swap in 2028 as well.

In addition to him, Brooklyn is receiving two players in Nikola Vucevic and DeMar DeRozan which will help keep them competitive.
Vucevic would likely get back on track as the first or second option offensively depending on what happens with Kyrie Irving. DeRozan showed last season that he is more than capable of carrying an offense still when need be.

This is competitive compared to other packages that the Nets have been offered, providing them pieces to help now and in the future. Brooklyn would remain competitive while putting them in a position to make a splash down the road again.
