Why The Indiana Pacers Do The Deal
It’s clear that the Indiana Pacers have to rebuild now that they’ve stumbled into one of the most promising building blocks in the league in Tyrese Haliburton. They took another huge step forward in the process when they trade Malcolm Brogdon to the Boston Celtics in return for Aaron Nesmith, a 2023 first-round pick, and salary filler.
Now, though, they still have a few veteran holdovers they need to dumb to continue to accumulate future assets around their newly formed core. Buddy Hield and Myles Turner offer the Pacers their best two trade chips and each should be able to snag them at least a first-round pick or young player in return.
In this trade, not only do the Pacers add the first-rounder they should be looking for, but they also grab a talent that they can flip down the line for even more draft capital or young prospects.
Playing in Indiana without any sort of expectations, Terry Rozier could fully unleash his complete arsenal of offensive talent to elevate his trade stock.
