The Golden State Warriors most certainly do not want to trade away Draymond Green. But, if he is adamant about signing a max extension, they may have to consider their options when it comes to his future with the team.
This offseason Jordan Poole is also eligible for an extension and in 2023 things don’t get any easier. Andrew Wiggins will be a free agent while Klay Thompson and James Wiseman will be extension eligible.
Figuring out who to pay is a delicate process. Green is the heart and soul of the Warriors and arguably their most important player on the court. However, the organization has given no indication they are willing to sign him to a max deal right now.
If the relationship deteriorates, the Warriors could look to trade him. They will never be able to get the same value back, as Green is likely worth more to Golden State than any other team in the NBA. However, there is a real chance that he will be on the move.

Packages for an offensively-limited player such as Green likely won’t be overwhelming. But, this swap with the Portland Trail Blazers would at least net the Warriors some useful assets. Josh Hart is a solid two-way player that does everything well if nothing spectacular.
Nasir Little would provide the team with another young building block to help carry this team into what they are hoping is another dynasty run. Justise Winslow is added to match salary but his skill set is one that Steve Kerr can get the most out of.

The 2025 first-round pick provides them with a little more draft capital to build a trade package with to bring in more talent should the need arise. Golden State has done well finding useful players in the draft and could use that as a chance to take a second bite from the apple if it isn’t part of a trade.
