The Los Angeles Lakers still have a lot of work to do when it comes to upgrading their roster ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season. While they have done a solid job with what they had available, adding younger, two-way capable players in free agency, a trade seems inevitable.

Lonnie Walker IV, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, Thomas Bryant and Troy Brown Jr. are solid additions and upgrades on what the Lakers had last season, but they don’t move the needle too much. The depth will be improved, but Los Angeles still needs impact rotation players to help get back on track.

They would love to use Russell Westbrook in a trade to accomplish that, but it will be tough to get any value for him without including multiple first-round draft picks. Trade scenarios have been floated involving him, but none have really gained too much traction.

If the Lakers want to make a splash, Anthony Davis is who they could take some trade calls on. While it is very unlikely that Los Angeles trades him, as they have big plans for him this upcoming season as the offense will be run through him, he is the player that can return the most to the team.
