Dig hard enough, and it’s easy to make a historical link between almost any two NBA franchises. With that said, you don’t have to dig too hard to find a connection between the Los Angeles Clippers and the San Antonio Spurs.
After all, the face of this Clippers franchise is Kawhi Leonard. For our younger readers, he used to be the face of (drum roll please) the Spurs. In fact, his departure may be directly linked to their current conditions.
The Spurs have been mired in mediocrity since Leonard forced his way out of town. This offseason, they traded star guard Dejounte Murray in exchange for three unprotected first-round picks in an effort to finally bottom out.
In that respect, these two teams couldn’t be further apart. The Clippers will enter 2022-23 in championship-or-bust mode.
