Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
Frankly, the Nets may not have a choice.
The market for Durant is not shaping up the way they’d surely hoped. It may be that the cost of landing him is too prohibitive for most teams to pay. With that said, the Boston Celtics are not like most teams.
In fact, they’re fresh off an NBA Finals appearance. The Celtics, unlike most teams, have enough talent to trade the Nets a young star and still have enough left over to contend for the title. In other words, this may be the best deal the Nets are getting.
That’s fine – it’s a good one. Brown is a 24-year-old star player. He was just the second-best player on a Finals team, and at times, he looked to be usurping Jayson Tatum.
