Minnesota Timberwolves Acquire Jordan Clarkson

Utah Jazz Receive: F Taurean Prince, G/F Wendell Moore Jr., G Jordan McLaughlin
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G Jordan Clarkson

The Minnesota Timberwolves already made big moves this summer. In trading for Rudy Gobert, they’ve at least established themselves as fringe contenders.

After all, rim protection was a tremendous problem for the Wolves in 2021-22. To say they’ve solved it would be an understatement – they went out and got the best rim protector in the NBA.

Still, this roster feels a little incomplete. In glancing over it, it’s hard to identify a player who’ll keep this offense humming with the second unit. If the Wolves are seeking such a player, they could make another deal with the Jazz.

After all, Jordan Clarkson is a recent Sixth Man of the Year winner – he’s more than up for that task. Meanwhile, Taurean Prince is expendable for the Minnesota Timberwolves, given Jaden McDaniels’ emergence as a defensive dynamo and their recent signing of Kyle Anderson.

As for the Utah Jazz, this deal assumes they’ll be removing themselves from fringe contention this summer. If they trade Donovan Mitchell as widely anticipated, flipping Clarkson for promising rookie Wendell Moore Jr. is a sensible move for the organization.
